چکیده
Abstract Aim Surgical site infection (SSI) occurs in 2–10% of the patients after abdominal surgery and has an impact on morbidity, mortality medical costs. The aim this systematic review meta-analysis was to evaluate whether use triclosan-coated sutures for fascial closure adominal decrease rate SSI compared uncoated sutures. Methods A conducted using PRISMA guidelines. literature search performed Medline ALL, Web Science Core Collection, Cochrane Central Register Controlled Trials Embase. latest January, 21th, 2023. Risk bias assessed RoB 2 tool. pooled RevMan. Results Out 1356 records, ten Randomized Trials, with a total 9432 were included: 4763 Triclosan-coated group 4660 group. overall significantly reduced Odds Ratio (OR) 0.84 (95% CI [0.76; 0.94] p = 0.002). If PDS evaluated separately (PDS Plus 3999, 3900), triclosan-coating OR 0.86 [0.77; 0.96], 0.008). When Vicryl (Vicryl 764, 760), 0.71 [0.48; 1.04], 0.08) not significant. Conclusions In current meta-analysis, it found that incidence SSIs decreases when are used closure,

Systematic review and meta-analysis of triclosan-coated sutures for the prevention of surgical-site infection.
BACKGROUND Surgical-site infections (SSIs) increase morbidity and mortality in surgical patients and represent an economic burden to healthcare systems. Experiments have shown that triclosan-coated sutures (TCS) are beneficial in the prevention of SSI, although the results from individual randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are inconclusive. A meta-analysis of available RCTs was performed to ev...

OBJECTIVE To determine the efficacy and safety of triclosan-impregnated sutures. BACKGROUND Surgical-site infections (SSIs) produce considerable morbidity and increase health care costs. A potential strategy to decrease the rates of SSIs may be the use of triclosan-impregnated sutures. These have been endorsed and/or funded by professional and governmental bodies in numerous countries. Labora...
متن کاملSystematic review and meta-analysis of sutures coated with triclosan for the prevention of surgical site infection after elective colorectal surgery according to the PRISMA statement
BACKGROUND Several randomized clinical trials (RCTs) conducted to evaluate the effect of triclosan-coated suture on surgical site infection (SSI) yield to controversial results. The primary purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to analyze the available RCTs, comparing the effect of triclosan-coated suture with uncoated suture on the incidence of SSI after elective colorectal o...

PURPOSE Surgical site infection (SSI) after open abdominal surgery is still a frequently reported nosocomial infection. To reduce the incidence of SSI, triclosan-coated sutures with antiseptic activity (Vicryl Plus) were developed. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of Vicryl Plus on SSI after gastric cancer surgery via midline laparotomy. METHODS A total of 916 patients who unde...
متن کاملMeta-analysis of prevention of surgical site infections following incision closure with triclosan-coated sutures: robustness to new evidence.
BACKGROUND A systematic literature review (SLR) and meta-analysis of surgical site infections (SSIs) after surgical incision closure with triclosan-coated sutures (TS) compared with non-antibacterial coated sutures (NTS) published previously by the authors suggested that fewer SSIs occurred in the TS study arm. However, the results were vulnerable to the removal of one key randomized controlled...
